Legal Counsel (medior)

The Legal Counsel is member of a team of in-house legal professionals, responsible for the provision of legal, compliance and corporate services for all divisions of West Coast Supply Group.

Following the departure of the current Legal Counsel, we are looking for a replacement.

The role is located in Leiden and Hoofddorp. You report directly to the General Counsel & Corporate Secretary.

This is how you tackle your day. You: 

• Interact with and provide pro-active commercial legal support to all divisions, working directly with our International Traders as well as Logistics & Supply Chain;

• Draft, review and negotiate all types of (commercial) contracts. Such as: purchase, supply, agency, distribution and logistics;

• Provide support to HR on all kinds of employment law matters;

• Deliver face-to-face training to our colleagues on areas like commercial contracting or compliance;

• Provide legal support in developing new and innovative own brands;

• Support the business in case of commercial disputes and litigation;

• Liaise with and monitor (international) external advisors;

• Keep up with new legislation, market developments and proactively advise legal team and management on this.

For this key position we are looking for a medior legal professional that has a strong career track record as an attorney in a law firm or as a legal counsel within an international business environment.

This person is a real legal ‘jack of all trades’ who gets energized by a dynamic and high pace working environment and working on different legal topics every day. Preferably, you have experience with a trading environment and/or a context in which supply chain and logistics form the core of business. 

The ideal candidate is a strong player who can simplify complex legal issues and helps to guide and shape the business. You bring strong presence, make an impact and are able to build relationships easily, with credibility and sufficient gravitas.

This person is an absolute go-getter, sets ambitious goals and doesn't give up until she/he reaches them.

Profile

• 3-5 years of PQE, which would ideally include at least relevant working experience as an attorney in a law firm and/or experience as a legal counsel within an international business environment;

• Fluent in Dutch and English, both written and verbal;

• Dutch Master of Laws degree;

• Solid knowledge of European Union laws, Intellectual Property laws, Competition laws and international trade rules (e.g. incoterms and trade compliance);

• Prior experience with or enthusiasm about FMCG business and/or retail is a must;

• Knowledge of Dutch Corporate Law is a plus;

• Business oriented and dedicated team player with a pragmatic “find a way not an excuse” approach;

• Service-minded, able to work independently in a culture-rich and fast-paced international organization;

• Good judgement and analytical skills;

• High degree of professional ethics and integrity;

• Eager, result driven and a true problem solver;

• Organized, proactive and an approachable person with a hands on mentality.
